Dear Rocky Point School Community,

william威廉希尔i hope this message finds you well and that all are staying healthy and safe.

recognizing that our schools remained opened and distance learning occurred remotely through our previously planned spring break and that emergency closure days were not used, the official last day of classes for the 2019-2020 school year will now be friday, june 19. this date represents full compliance with the 180-day requirement set forth by the governor and state education department.

our building principals and their teams have been finalizing their plans for the return of schoolbooks and the collection of personal belongings in lockers and classrooms. information regarding the retrieval of these items will be provided by building principals. alternative and special ways to recognize and memorialize events for our middle school and elementary schools are also being finalized. families will be hearing from their respective school principals about the momentous ways these celebrations will be recognized shortly.

as announced by our governor, summer school programs at all schools have been canceled and will not take place as previously scheduled. information, including summer programs and driver’s education through community education, will be forthcoming from the director of community education.

finally, we will be communicating the rocky point high school’s plan for a reimagined graduation ceremony. this plan is being finalized with input from many stakeholders and with careful consideration of recent changes with new york state guidelines and the governor’s executive order. we, as a district, believe it is especially important to hold a closing ceremony for our class of 2020 that honors and acknowledges their time in our rocky point school district. greater details about the graduation plan will be forthcoming.

william威廉希尔to all of our students, families, and staff be well and stay safe!
