Earlier this June, school superintendents, administrators and parents collectively praised Rocky Point High School senior James Gohn for his scholastic promise and academic dedication during the Suffolk County School Superintendents Association’s 22nd annual Valedictorian Luncheon, held at the Hyatt Regency Wind Watch Hotel in Hauppauge.

The program included a keynote address from Josephine Pucci, a 2014 Olympic silver medalist, 2011 Team USA World Champion and former Harvard University women’s hockey team captain. During her speech, Pucci encouraged  James and his fellow valedictorians to adopt a “growth mindset” that thrives on challenges and sees failure as a springboard for growth.

At the end of the program, each valedictorian present was called to the stage and individually presented with a certificate and gift of recognition from the association.
The district wishes James well as he enrolls in Stony Brook University this fall to major in mechanical engineering.
